What it is
What UXMachine is
It opens a page in a real browser, the way a first-time visitor would, and measures what stands between that person and what they came to do.
What it does
It does not judge whether the design looks good. That opinion is easy to get elsewhere.
It says what it looked at, how it measured it, and in which window. So you can check it.
It opens the address in two windows—desktop at 1280×800 and mobile at 390×844—and follows the site's own links for up to 11 pages. It does not go anywhere that needs a password. It does not fill in forms. It looks at what is there on arrival, without touching anything.
Then it measures the boxes on the page: where the first screen ends and what is left below, waiting for someone to scroll; how much of that screen is taken up by whatever sits on top—the cookie notice, a sticky bar, anything that stays put when you scroll.
None of that is known by looking at the design. It is known by opening the page and measuring.
What you get
A report in five parts.
What happens when you paste an address
You paste an address
We open the page and measure. If you leave your email, we let you know when it is done.
You get a link
Keep it: if you lose it, we cannot recover it for you.
Without an account, it expires
The report itself says how long it will be available.
When it is useful
- You are about to launch a site or a new project and want to look at it with measurements before announcing it.
- You have just published a landing page and do not know whether it is understood.
- Someone has told you that “something does not work” and you do not know where to start looking.
- Or you have to review someone else's page and would rather arrive with measurements than with opinions.
Try it on any page you want to look at
