UXMachine or Lighthouse: which one should you use to check your website after a change?
Use Lighthouse for page speed and for scored audits of a single page. Use UXMachine for the same fixed checks across several pages at two widths, compared with the previous measurement. UXMachine gives no score and does not measure speed.
What Lighthouse does
- An open-source tool from Google, under the Apache 2.0 license. You give it one URL per run.
- Its four main categories, performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO, receive scores from 0 to 100.
- It runs in Chrome DevTools, as a command-line tool or Node module, as a browser extension, or remotely through PageSpeed Insights.
- Google documents several sources of variability in performance results and recommends using aggregate values, such as the median of several runs, instead of a single result.
- Lighthouse itself does not compare runs. Lighthouse CI, a separate project, tracks scores over time and compares two versions of a site.
- The command-line tool emulates a phone by default and can switch to desktop.
What UXMachine does
- Opens up to 11 pages of a site in a browser running on UXMachine's servers, at 1280×800 and 390×844.
- Runs a fixed, public list of checks and lists what it observed, with evidence, and what it could not check.
- No scores. When there is a previous comparable measurement of the same site, it reports what is new, still observed, observed again, no longer observed or not comparable, and what could not be checked.
- Your AI agent can ask for it over MCP, or a GitHub Action can run it after your deployments (by default, at most once every 6 hours).
When to use which
- Lighthouse, for page speed, for a score you want to track, and for an SEO baseline.
- UXMachine, when an AI agent changes your site often and you want to know which observations changed on several pages since the last check, at both widths.
- Both: Lighthouse for performance and its scored audits; UXMachine for repeatable checks across several pages and for changes in those observations over time.
Do not use UXMachine for page speed, scores or an SEO baseline. Use Lighthouse for those.
This page compares documented features, not results on your site. UXMachine does not replace a full audit or testing with people. Checked on 19 October 2026.
