Measure your site from GitHub Copilot in VS Code
Connect UXMachine once in your project. Then ask Copilot to measure your site and it will give you the report link.
Before you start
- VS Code with GitHub Copilot, signed in to GitHub.
- A UXMachine account. If you don't have one, create it here.
- Your site published at a public address.
- Each measurement uses 1 credit from your UXMachine account. Measurements we can't run use none.
Step by step
Create the connection file
In your project folder, create the file .vscode/mcp.json with this content:
{"servers":{"uxmachine":{"type":"http","url":"https://uxmachine.app/mcp"}}}If VS Code asks whether you trust the folder, choose to trust it.
Click the authentication prompt
Open .vscode/mcp.json. A small line appears above “uxmachine”. When it asks for authentication, click it.
Authorize in UXMachine
Your browser opens. If asked, sign in to your UXMachine account and click “Authorize”. In VS Code, the line above “uxmachine” will change to show the server is running.
Open Copilot chat in Agent mode
Open Copilot chat and, in the input box, choose “Agent”.
Ask it to measure
Copy this sentence and change the address to your site's.
Using the UXMachine connector, measure https://your-site.com, give me the report link and tell me what was observed and what could not be checked. Don't change any code.If Copilot asks for permission to use UXMachine, accept. The measurement takes a few minutes.
How you know it works
Copilot gives you the report link. In the report you see what was observed, on which page and at which width, and what could not be checked.
This guide doesn't measure the version on your computer.
If something fails
Copilot says the UXMachine tools aren't available
Go back to .vscode/mcp.json and click the authentication prompt; if it stays on “Authenticating…”, click it again and authorize right away.
You don't see “Agent”
Update VS Code.
What we measure and what we do not
We measure the pages we find from your site's address, at 1280 and 390 px wide, with a specific set of automatic rules. What does not appear in the report has not been checked, and that does not mean it is fine. How we measure
Tested with VS Code 1.142.0 on 1 November 2026.
